Ford Hybrid Powers Environmental Auction

Ford Motor Company’s participation in the recently concluded Heal the Bay auction reiterates the company’s commitment to the environment. As the main auction item for the environmental organization’s Bring Back the Beach dinner last May 29, the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid attracted thousands of well-meaning auctioneers. Roger Wojahn brought home the Hybrid after bidding $33,000. An active supporter of the Santa Monica organization’s annual charity auction, Ford Motor’s 5-year Heal the Bay auction total has reached the $195,000 mark. Heal the Bay is a group dedicated to improving water quality along California’s coastlines, and the company’s continuing commitment is reflective of its sincerity in supporting worthy environmental causes. Putting their newest baby in the limelight adds more points since the Hybrid effectively embraces what environmental advocates are passionate about. The Escape Hybrid is a low emission vehicle with interior features made from 100% cloth fabrics generated from post-industrial waste plastics and polyester fabrics. Like all their previous Hybrid’s, this newest model empowers Ford’s consumers to bring out their environment-loving selves. At the auction, the Ford Escape Hybrid definitely gathered positive reactions from a mixed crowd. Among the thousands, Wojahn was the happiest since according to him he and his friends decided to “reach deep” so he can finally have a Hybrid after almost a decade of joining Heal the Bay auctions. Ford Motors also donated Escape Hybrids to the Los Angeles County Lifeguards as a symbol of their commitment to keeping the coastline clean and safe.
