Recycle Your Phone at Tesco

Researches have estimated that a total of forty million handsets are used with less than five percent of it being recycled. An announcement made today in England regarding the recycling of unused elements in the telephone system. Tesco will make an active participation in the event thereby enhancing the process of recycling.

Mobiles and handsets are composed of several useful and harmful products. Elements of gold and palladium can be extracted and re-used for manufacturing a different product, but elements of lead, cadmium and lithium produce harmful effect in the environment. Recycling is done by various companies like “Envirofone” but this time the task has been provided to the company of “XS Tronics”.

The company has committed to recycle a tremendous number of handsets in the initial year. Tesco will donate a sum of £5 for each mobile to the charity institutions of Alzheimer’s Society, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and NCH. This will be a duty helping to perform social responsibility. Recycling can be useful in reserving the ratio of exhaustible elements.

News on recycling has been appreciated by some people. This matter will soon be added in a new European Union Law. Tony Manwaring, the director of NCH and Ben Shaw, a member of Green Alliance have commented that the process should be adopted universally to benefit the environment.
